September 28, 2020

My nephew's bday was last month.  He was having an outdoor movie party so I got him this fun popcorn popper for his birthday along with a flavor sprinkle kit.  Yes, he's 9 but he loved it.  I also got him some Charlie Brown characters so yeah, I recognize that he's 9.  ANNNNNYway, Rick thought it was a great gift and made him think about his Grandpa who also had an air popper.  So we got one for ourselves.  We finally broke it out last night and made popcorn.  Riley doesn't have in person classes until later in the week so she is still home with us.  She's the one who finally opened the box.

Riley really wanted some seared tuna.

LOOK AT THAT BREAD!!!

The fire pit was a little too hot for Grandpa to make his hot dog.

He came up with a solution.

I have no idea.

Jason's hot dog stick is a little too big.

They were delicious!

Hot apple cider

It's fall, ya'll

We went to pick up Riley for the weekend and she needed some stress relief.  So I took her to the puppy store to play with the puppies.

That's not a rope!  That's a french braid.

Okay, so the bread.  I found a new recipe which is a little more intensive.  It requires folds instead of kneading which I prefer.  Each of these pics is a half hour after the other with just four folds between each step.

Okay, that looks really gross.  But it's my sourdough starter.  I was testing it to see if it would float because that's how you know it's ready to go.  It's not floating but it's close!

Jar #2 floats!!  Whoo hoo

You might be able to see the little wad of paper between Green's paws.
She killed it and yowled to let us know.

September 24, 2020

Day of Hope total!!  I'm sad that she didn't get to experience Day of Hope as she has in the past, but at least she's gotten to experience it before.  Also, she raised over $3,000 and ended up as the highest freshman fundraiser.

I stopped after work to watch a high school tennis match at Riley's old school.  They brough their puppy.

Our Day of Hope bingo card!

I'm trying a new recipe.  It was awesomely high maintenance but my starter is still kinda blah.  Back to the drawing board.

This is the amount of money that I put in the bank today from the buckets of Riley money.  It's how much money she'll get in donations tomorrow.  There's a weird story behind it.  I wanted to donate $100 to Riley and her friend Natalie ($50 per) plus I wanted to donate $739.10 which was Riley's birth weight in grams.  I figured that would be a couple of hundred dollars in donations from us.  Instead, we got an extra 40 cents in donations.  Even weirder...at the time, Riley had exactly $839 in previous donations.  I don't know what it all meant but it was "poetic".

That's a car seat waiting for me to put it together.  *sigh*

I illegally picked up my phone and took a picture at a red light.  The sunrise was gorgeous.

I always think this section of the White River is gorgeous at this time of day.  Honestly though, it's kind of a gross part of town.

That is my Qdoba ground beef quesadilla.  I can never remember what type of protein I ordered from week to week so I'm putting this down for posterity.  I prefer ground beef to the steak.  I'm moving on to grilled chicken next time.

That's a whole lotta change because I cannot turn change into the bank without wrapping it.

That was $200 in quarters.  Maybe the change crisis is my fault?

I drove out to the orchard to deliver buckets with lids so I got an apple cider.
I'm a happy little camper now.

September 21, 2020

This is an absolutely ridiculous post and I realize it but I'm putting it out there.  The handicap bar is to open the door to the parking garage.  The other buttons are for the elevator.  The number of times that I have popped the door bar instead of the elevator button is ridiculous.  I usually figure it out about two minutes later when said elevator has yet to arrive.  I have not yet figured it out when I acknowledge in my head that the door to the parking lot has magically opened.

I apparently miss being busy.  Today I ran a bunch of errands, was obnoxiously a bit of a failure and got a few things done.

1.  I drove to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway because my brother mentioned there was a flag there that was on sale and some cool IMS masks.  He wanted me to buy them online.  If they had been on sale on Amazon, I would have jumped on that like the Amazon geek that I am.  But instead this had a $15 shipping fee SO I drove the 15 mins over there, got my temperature tested, filled out a form, had a personal shopper pick out what I needed, grabbed two postcards - one for Riley and one for my niece and nephew and got the heck out of dodge.  I do like the serenity of the track when it's quiet and empty but I love it when it's loud too.  Maybe not all those people though.

2. I went to Menards.  Rick mentioned some cleaner that he found there once so I checked to see if it was there.  It was not but I saw some cleaner for "musty smells" that I need to try in Riley's bathroom.  I didn't want to buy it though because I didn't want to wait in line for something I didn't need.

3. I went to my parents' to pick up a stuffed pepper for Rick that my dad had made using peppers out of our garden.  He asked (multiple times) if I wanted one.  I did not.

4.  I went to Michaels and picked up what I needed which included three picture frames and a Halloween decoration.  I saw the line.  I put everything back and took two tylenol.

5.  I grabbed a sandwich for lunch from a drive thru.  I am still afraid of restaurants.  I really wanted a soda.  I did not get one but I had some water.  I told myself I could have a tea later from Sonic.  HAHA  The lunch was gross.  I threw it away.

6.  I stopped by the house because I forgot my Riley buckets.

7.  I drove past Sonic and told myself I could have a cold cider from the orchard.

8.  I went to Kroger to meet my brother to give him the stuff from IMS.  He gave me a pack of gum as a thank you.  I had a mask on so I don't think it was because my breath was stinky.  I bought the stuff I needed from the store.  I said a few bad words because there was no tomato juice OR celery.  Oddly enough, the celery isn't going in the tomato juice.  I heard a weird clunk as I got in the car.

9.  I got to the orchard and realized the weird clunk was my purse falling out the car.  I said more bad words.  I swapped out the Riley buckets (the lady snotted at me because I don't have lids for all the buckets (people in hell want frozen cider), did NOT get any apple cider, emailed the hospital to get lids and called Kroger.

10.  Picked up my purse at Kroger.

11.  Bought the four things that I needed from Meijer and ONLY the four things I needed from Meijer.  Realized on the way out that I hadn't bought any cider.

12.  I went to Sonic and bought a GIANT iced tea.

13.  I went back home.

In other, happier, news...

The bucket from the orchard had lots of donations!

September 19, 2020

We had TWO zoom calls with three colleges last night as a Riley family.  Riley was awkward because she's somewhere stuck in the middle.

We picked up Riley and took a ride through the hills.  This is Lake Lemon.

I don't remember what this lake is called.

The IU Zoom

We spent a lot of time outside today.  This was our firepit after we dropped Riley off and headed back home.

This is me with a weird bald filter.  I don't THINK those are my real eyebrows?

September 17, 2020

My brother grilled these delicious pork chops for his own birthday dinner.  They were so good, along with some grilled asparagus.

This is adorable.  I danced with my mom, then Jason took over.

Dad got the last dance.
