April 28, 2019

You know those days?  Yes....those days.  Today was one of them.

After going to bed WAAAAY tooo late, sleeping in a cabin and not being comfortable, I woke up at my normal 5 AM.  I was able to nod on and off until 6AM when I finally just got up, packed up my stuff quietly and prepared to walk to the main cabin.  I left my computer and phone on my bed and took my stuff to the car.  It was cold and rainy but I had to finish my presentation.  Guess what....I locked myself out of the cabin.  The girls couldn't hear me knocking nor could the other adult  whose face I could SEE in the window. So I went back to the car and would go knock about every 10 minutes.  Finally, the other adult came out and yes, locked herself out.  She banged on the windows and woke everyone up and my presentation DID get finished on time.

We finished the retreat and left, only to find that I had a flat tire with no signal.  We got that fixed and did get home in time to go see Avengers...AND Riley hit her $1,000 Avengers DM FTK goal.

Seriously people.  I went and got my oil changed this morning, then met Riley at school to give her food, then picked up Rick and drove halfway across the world to Riley's ISSMA state qualifier where they played beautifully, got a gold with distinction rating but didn't get to keep going AND saw my college roommate and her kids and confused an entire contingent of band parents who couldn't figure out why Riley was ready to go but their kids weren't...(deep breath) then drove back home and dropped Rick off and headed to the other side of the world for my confirmation class retreat,  Riley took a nap (with Jesus), fought off freshman nerd flirting and EVENTUALLY we all got to sleep technically in the tomorrow.

Today was our work NICU party.  We brought McAlisters Deli.
I was mostly excited about the Iced Tea.

Prom is in a week so it was time to get those eyebrows tamed.  I have been remiss so we went to an actual spa today to get them done and whoowheeee do they look better.

Riley was surprised to get a new saxophone in the mail today.  Rick decided to play it.  He did a heck of a lot better than I would have.  Also, I stopped to see Riley at the gym tonight.  She's working on a new vault!

One of our favorite Mexican restaurant dishes is Arroz con pollo.  This recipe was not exact but it was just as good...maybe better.

Rick and I often ride together nowadays.  I was in a bit of a quandary this morning because Riley was going to a DM after work and Rick was going to play at the Pacers game.  I finally decided to go with Rick, take some photos, then meet Riley at her DM and go back to pick up Rick.  I got a text back from Riley telling me I didn't need to go with her. Then I got a text back with this photo.  She was in good hands with her friend Anna. That means she has moved ahead of me for number of dance marathons attended at 272.

In other exciting photos:
My last Lenten lunch of grilled cheese and tomato soup.

A church came to the hospital and made Easter dinner.  That's sweet potatoes, mac and cheese and fish.  It was about as yummy as it looks.

Pacers game!

My how life is changing.  Riley was scheduled to be an altar server at mass tonight. However, she also had a sax lesson on the other side of town.  She rearranged things to make sure she was at mass on time but I wasn't going to be able to make it.  So she called a friend and asked him to pick me up.

In this picture, the servers have just found out that father is planning for them to kneel for the next 30 minutes.  You can almost see the "say what now?" look on Riley's face.

Hello Spring!!

April 13, 2019

Today was a stay at home for most of the day kind of day which was amazing.  We worked in the yard and did laundry and cleaned house.  Eventually, I took Rick to a friend's house while Riley and I went to a dance marathon.  The friend's house belongs to the family of the dog that bit me about 18 months ago.  We don't really go there anymore (Riley and I) but Rick still gets invited over.  I'm not sure if we aren't invited or if Rick isn't comfortable with us going or if they don't want us over, but regardless, it's all a bit awkward.

Anyway, the marathon was fun.  Riley played hungry, hungry human hippos and I hung out with the other moms.  We eventually texted Rick and let him know we were on our way back and he responded back to let us know NOT to come in the house...he had been bitten by the dog.  So that makes all three of us who have had blood drawn by this dog but only I've needed stitches.  They assured him the dog would be put in a different room if we come over but not sure that will ever be an issue since they told me the same thing.
