February 3, 2019 - Super
It was a SUPER day! Super warm out, a Super Bowl party, Riley had super cute hair and a super fun euchre get together with the youth group.
February 2, 2019
We were off to solo and ensemble by 9 AM and at Ben Davis high school not long after. One of Riley's trio members found her when we arrived to tell her that he had forgotten his saxophone so would be playing someone else's. No...I have no idea and Riley's sax teacher was angry enough for all of us. Regardless, in they went and they came out with a gold. As I mentioned earlier, they were playing a group one song (the highest level) so they will be representing their high school at state.
One of our family friends is in 7th grade and he was also at the school competing. He also plays the sax so he was in the same room. I believe he was competing group 5 and did very well and also got a gold. His dad is in the band with Rick and he also has the same sax teacher (who is also in the band with Rick). There also was a funny moment with his score but you kinda had to be there.
I took the two above "children" to get some lunch then came back early enough for Riley to warm up for her solo. We found out she was getting in a little early so off she went and once again, she came out with a gold and is going to state.
This is where normal people would go home for the day. We did not. We went to Culver's for celebratory ice cream, we went to get gas and we went to GFS to stock up for tomorrow's Super Bowl party. Then we went to Butler for their dance marathon. They raised over 365,555!!!

We got hit with about 3" of snow overnight so SOMEONE got another 2 hour delay. Seriously? She had practice after school for her trio so I picked her up after work and took her to the gym. She only had about 40 minutes to practice with her teammates then I kept her and had her work on some things for high school. We did have a breakthrough on one of her mental blocks and I had to jump in the foam pit where I promptly had a tiny meltdown because I thought I'd never get out.

It was cold enough today that Riley had a 2 hour delay but we went back to work. I think it was -17 windchill when I left this morning. We are a few days out from Solo and Ensemble so there was also a lesson tonight and lots of homework for other classes.
Janaury 30, 2019
It was COLD today....like 35 below 0 windchill kind of cold. We didn't have to work, well, we worked from home, and Riley didn't have school. I ended up taking Riley to the gym because it was just too danged cold and I worried that the car wouldn't start or something. It's a good thing we went because we didn't realize it was the last day for one of her coaches who is moving to Pennsylvania for a year for work. I mean, we knew she was leaving, we just thought it wasn't for another week. So there were tears and much love.
