It started out as a good day.  We volunteered at an Easter Egg Hunt through Riley's school athletics program this morning.  We also had an Easter egg hung and met Riley's new buddy for IUDM when we got a message that Rick's aunt was losing her battle with cancer.  We drove up in the hopes of seeing her before she passed but we were too late.  We were able to say our goodbyes thanks to the kindness of her family and spent some time with them before heading home late.  It's always hard to be reminded of the fragility of life as well as to enjoy time with family you don't often see when you're only together because of the loss of a loved one.  Riley was very sad on the way home and commented that she didn't feel she had gotten to know her Aunt as well as she would have liked.  I reminded her that they knew each other's hearts and they knew the love that they had for each other.  Rick is also struggling as they were close.  We will miss her.  The world was a better place with her in it.
