June 21, 2018 - The strawberry

I have a strawberry plant in my kitchen window.  Today I came home to a perfectly ripe, beautiful strawberry.  My family left on vacation a day earlier than me so I didn't even have to share it.  It was delicious.

June 20, 2018

I found a random doll in the store closet today.  When I asked about it, I was told that she used to sit in one of the car seats.  She is creepy and has creepy toes.  I snapchatted her AND left her as a present for a co-worker.

June 19, 2018

I survived my real "women's" meeting at church.  I didn't volunteer for anything except to donate cookies to a bake sale.

When your little buddy hurts her ankle, you give her a ride.

June 17, 2018 - Anniversary/Father's Day

Church and the gym and the other gym and dinner with my parents and gifts and silly hats and food and tumbling and laughter and even a stupid argument about gravy...

June 16, 2018 - Tumbling through life

Now that Riley is driving, many things are easier.  But today, everyone needed the car and we didn't have enough to go around.  So Riley went with me to a meeting at the Make A Wish offices, then I took her to the gym.  While she was at the gym, I did my Father's Day lunch shopping which I then dropped off at my parents'.  Then I went and worked out, picked her up and took her to get our pre-vacation pedicure.  There were lots of smiles to be had.

However, when we were driving from MAW to the gym for tumbling clinic, I made the mistake of casually inquiring whether or not she'd be working on her back tumbling.  For those of you not in the know, back in February, she stopped back tumbling.  We pushed at it for a few weeks, then decided to back off.  Every now and then, I ask about it, she gets defensive and it escalates.  The same happened today.  I get it, we are all frustrated.

Anywho, when I got to the gym to pick her up, her buddy mom said, "how long has Riley been back tumbling again?"  Say what now?  Sure enough, she comes beebopping across the gym and says, "You missed it.  I got some new skills."  I asked if she had her roundoff backhandspring tuck back? "No, but I can just do a running roundoff back tuck now."  Can I see it? "No."  Alrighty then.  "Oh, and I can do a front tuck through now."  Can I see that? "No."

So anyway, lots of smiles now and a ways to go on things but that skill will at least count as her back tumbling skill for high school so we have that going for us now.

June 15, 2018 - St Elmo's

A visit to St Elmo's for an early anniversary celebration!

June 14, 2018 - Safety Fair

Riley's last job for the summer as Safety Sami was today.  My whole department had to work.  It was hot but she did a good job and now she has some spending money for San Diego.

Sami has to work tomorrow and all they have are child large shirts for her to wear while not in the costume.  Luckily, it fit...ish.

June 12, 2018

Okay, so a couple of weeks ago, we had a ministry fair at church.  I signed up as "interested" in a few groups.  One of them was a group that takes food and clothes to the needy.  I got a call that their first meeting is at 2PM on a Tuesday...that would be a nope.

Second call was to get help weeding around one of our outdoor stations of the cross.  I was station #5.  I drove out to take a look at my cross and it had already been weeded so I guessed that I was good to go.

Third call was to join the church's women's group.  I signed up with a friend and our first meeting was tonight.  Riley had the car so my friend Katie offered to pick me up.  We got to church at 6 and couldn't find anyone but we did notice that the food had already been set out and mass was going.  Assuming that everyone would come out when mass was over, we sat down and grabbed a couple of handfuls of chex mix and waited.  Mass continued, we ate more chex mix until eventually Katie gasped and said, "OH!  This is a funeral!!  They cancelled our meeting because of a funeral!!  We ate the funeral food!!"  So there you go.

Katie took me home and I waited, starving, until Rick made it home from his bike ride and then he took me out for Mexican food.  Our waiter wanted to know where Riley was and I told him she is driving now and had taken herself to practice and he was disturbed...so we sent her a selfie so he could tell her he misses her.  What a strange life we have.

June 11, 2018

My friend brought me a protein pack from Starbucks for breakfast this morning.  Eggs, cheese, grapes, apples and peanut butter.  Her daughter works there so I'm guessing she brought them home for free but still, it was yummy...and oh yeah, free.

June 10, 2018

Weird sky on the way to church which prefaced torrential storms that lasted ALL day.

At the gym, she showed me her scar from her PDA ligation.  It looks good!

Riley made rolls for dinner.  We can't figure out how she made them different sizes.

June 9, 2018

Today was her first day working the crowd as the mascot.  She did great although she got really hot.  We also attended her friend Kate's graduation party AND Rick and I went out on a grownup date with some friends.

June 8, 2018 - Tuna

Riley is excited that we will be in San Diego relatively soon and she will access to fresh seafood.  After we went and worked out, she asked if we could stop by and pick up some fish at the market.  We ended up with swordfish, salmon and some tuna.  She plated the tuna.

Not much of a photo, just showing a gorgeous morning.  Sometimes it's the simple things.

June 6, 2018

Riley got a letter in the mail today letting her know that she was one of the top fundraisers for dance marathons this year.  So cool!

Also, she spent some time curling her hair.

June 5, 2018

Our next door neighbor is going to be in first grade and she REALLY likes Riley.  We were over there chatting this evening and Riley french braided the neighbor's hair.  She was in heaven.

June 4, 2018 - Part Time

Riley got a part time job working with me for the summer.  It's only for a few days and it's as our mascot BUT it pays more than the gym and she'll get as many hours in those few days as she gets at the gym...so it works.

Today was her first day and she got a badge and email AND she had to try on the costume.

June 3, 2018

My cousin's son's graduation party.
Tomorrow there is a very good chance that he'll be chosen in the first round of the MLB draft.

June 2, 2018

Today was a long day in the Kentucky sun with some break time in our dorm room and lots of good music and laughter.

The first picture is a car from the Andy Griffith show, then Riley and Alex showing off their clown band shirts and of course, our favorite clown.

June 1, 2018

Our annual trip to Danville, KY was this weekend.  I wasn't planning on going but here I am.
Picture 1 - A Riley burger complete with burger and chili.
Picture 2 - Our annual photo at the Beaumont Inn.
Picture 3 - That's Dave and Carol.  They are the clown band "sponsors".
Picture 4 - Someone wanted to take a pretty photo.  I took that one and she got mad and said her head looked huge so we left.
