October 27, 2020

Rick and I recently finished our viewing of Band of Brothers and while perusing for something new to watch, we discovered the entirety of Star Trek: Next Generation on Hulu.   Last night, we watched episode three.  Apparently, the first night's two hour premiere was considered episode 1 and 2.  I may have slept through part of 2 and possibly part of 1.

Episode 3 was Wesley Crusher-centric which is interesting because I had a small "crush" on Wil Wheaton in junior high after seeing Stand By Me.  Alas, I also had a crush on River Phoenix and sadly, we know how that turned out.

October 26, 2020

I know people often wonder how I manage the excitement in my life.  Today, for example, this was my printer at work when I attempted to make a copy.

Cleaning the carpets...good times

October 24, 2020

You can't really see it but it's one of THREE deer that walked in front of our car on the way out of Bloomington.  That's the second time we've seen deer on campus.

Our ice cream choices.  Riley had moose tracks.  It was very gritty.  I had blueberry waffle cone and Rick had dark chocolate.

My Bubs burger.  It was very good.

Riley really wanted to try an elk burger but was afraid she'd hate it.  So she ordered a slider and we all three tried it.  It was okay.  I preferred my cow meat.

October 23, 2020

One of Riley's friends celebrated her 19th bday.  I sent her a happy birthday wish plus a picture of me...so she'd know it was from me just in case she didn't have my number.

We had a storm come through at the end of the work day.  LOTS of hail.

October 22, 2020

I was walking into the hospital this morning with the lady who runs the gift shop next to the store.  I was looking at her when she said, "What in the good gracious is that?"  Yes, that's what she said.  She is uhm...elderly and I adore her.

THAT was all of the convertible car seats we had ordered that normally would be delivered next door to our storage area.  GIANT boxes of them, each one containing two car seats.  I had to mark each box with the date and then transport it next door to the basement storage area.  I then had to drag all of the seats out that we already had and put these boxes under those boxes.  My arms were jelly.   I had a conversation with a co-worker and said, "you know the booster seats will come on Monday when I'm back working."  Guess what...they came today.  Luckily, they came to the storage area and there were only 12 boxes of those.

Also, I feel I should mention that Riley's fish died today.  He's D-E-D.

October 21, 2020

I'm sometimes a lazy...well, busy person.  I packed my lunch this morning using celery that is pre-cut and cleaned and pre-boiled boiled eggs.  LOL.  If I don't do that sometimes, I end up buying my lunch which is also not good.  Although I miss the hospital soups.  Hopefully the cafeteria re-opens soon and I can get some soup.  Also, I cut that apple myself.  Also...also, I cute the celery in half to fit in my bag all by myself, thank you very much.  Also, also...also, slow news day.

October 20, 2020

My endocrinologist needed a blood test for me.  Luckily I work at a hospital so I got it done there and the phlebotimist was very gentle.  Also, when I got there, I found that my cardiologist also needed a blood test so win win.

I sent Riley a 5lb bag of gummy bears from Amazon.  When she got them, it was just the amazon package with an open 5lb bag of gummy bears.

Mmm, smoked pull pork

I know her!

Colts pulled out a win and I laughed at them getting their picture taken in the endzone.  That's the kind of thing that would tick off my competitive heart if they lost.

The eyebrown burns

October 17, 2020

We drove to Bloomington today to drop off a tub of sweatshirts and long sleeved tees.  HOwever, halfway down, we got a call asking us to come later.  *eyeroll*  So we went for a Sunday (Saturday) drive through the Morgan Monroe forest.  It was beautiful.  WE also stopped and had lunch in Bloomington with just the two of us at the Bloomington Sandwich Company.   There's a picture of my (boring) Greek salad in here somewhere.  We finally picked up RIley at the mall with her friends and I took her to get her eyebrows done while Rick started home on his bike.  Unfortunately, the aesthetician burnt her kind of badly.  *sigh*  Hopefully the redness will go away soon.  Rick and I had a few discussions about what to make for dinner when I finally got home but I ended up stopping at Gray Bros to pick up dinner.  The line was out the door at the take home section of the restaurant and this little guy was hanging out.

October 16, 2020

Rick made himself a GIANT  burger for dinner.  I didn't bother with my picture because it was not as fancy.

Homemade baked sweet potato fries and some tots.  There's a great restaurant downtown that serves a potato medley on butcher paper and it has fries, tots, potato wedges, etc in it.  That's what this very sad plate reminded me of.

This is a picture of the microwave I used at lunch.  There is a BIRD in a HOSPITAL on the base of the microwave table.  He didn't fly away while I warmed up my food but he did fly away when I got it out.

On my way to work, I got stopped by a train.  You cannot tell, but there is a train behind me as well.  I sat there for 15 minutes.

Same train crossing at the end of my work day...guess what?

That's a deep dish all meats pizza from Dawg House pizza.  There was another, much smaller pizza.  It was 7", thin crust with pineapple and ham BUT I ate it in the car on the way home because I was so hungry.  I didn't eat any of this.  Worse, it was dark and I didn't even look at it.  It could have been an onion and anchovy pizza for all I know.

October 14, 2020

THAT is a pickle.

This was an experiment to see if I could tell the difference between a potato and a turnip.  Spoiler alert...I could.  I didn't hate the difference but yes, I could tell.

October 13, 2020

It was a beautiful day for a walk after work.  It is so very dry here.  All of the yards are brown but this little pop of color has survived.

October 12, 2020

I came in to work this morning and the window looked like this.  The designer of the month had used a clothesline to hang up sleep sacks and it got too heavy.

This is such a silly post.  As you can see, the command hook popped right off the wall.  Egads!

I fixed it by adding GIANT thumb tacks.

October 11, 2020

That's a Cooks Illustrated brined pork chop with green beans.

The cats are laying together.  Blue looks like she wants to punch Green.

A little cemetery just down the street from us.  The fall colors are beautiful.

Not sure if you can see the green mixed in with the red.  At first I thought the leaves were both colors but it's just some branches are green and some are red.
