I took Riley to work this morning, then we were off to the grocery, then took mom to her house.  Sadly, we were locked out until I saw Riley's bag was in the car and luckily, her keys to mom and dad's house were in her bag.  Mom got cleaned up and we stopped by my house to pick up things for the bank.  We drove to the bank, then stopped at McDonald's to get mom some coffee.  It was not hot so we went back.  It was now so hot that you couldn't even hold the cup.  Then it was off to the rummage sale at church where we bought a table for my cousin. Then it was baaaack to pick Riley up at work then to the grocery because I picked up parsley instead of cilantro.  Back to my mom's for lunch and some salsa making.  Riley had some friends from IUDM come over for a dance marathon meeting which was good times.  We stayed with mom until about an hour before dad was set to be home and pulled into our driveway at 9:20 PM.  I was chatting with dad on the phone when I heard a weird noise in the phone.  He told me he'd just hit a deer.  I grabbed Riley and we went to pick him up and take him home after meeting with the police.  Luckily he was fine, sadly his car is not.  We ended up pulling back into the driveway at 11:15.  We were very tired.  Meanwhile, Rick drove to Valparaiso and back for a clown band event.

Yup, that's salsa.  I have no idea what my mom did to it.

Dinner at brother Jason's tonight.  My mom is staying with us for a few days while dad goes down south for his high school reunion.  It was a beautiful night to eat outside.

I think this tomato is really pretty.  Riley loves the flavor.  It's very acidic.

Out of order!!  THIS COURT IS OUT OF ORDER.  Well, the court isn't out of order but this post is.  Eh.

This big pork kebab was for making Tacos Al Pastor.  We had them for the first time in San Diego.  Thin slices of grilled pork topped with pineapple.  Heaven.  Mine were not as good but it was only my first try.  There wasn't enough seasoning.  Ah well, as they say "Rome wasn't built in a day"

This one is hard to see but it is Rick playing with another group at the park. It wasn't my favorite concert but the weather was beautiful and it didn't hurt to be outside listening.

 

 

Riley worked with me at the hospital today.  She had a stint as Sami and this picture made my heart grow two sizes.

Wow, my life is super exciting.  These are the ducks from work.  Each sale picks a duck this month and underneath is a percentage off their highest priced item.  Some dumb people let their littles pick the duck then guess who doesn't want to give the freaking duck back?

We prayed for rain.  We got a few minutes worth.

 Our priest's mom passed away a couple of weeks ago so we had a memorial mass for her today.  Riley was an altar server.

Still super hot in Indy.  I had to do an outreach today but it was at least inside. We were supposed to have a church event today that required sharing cars but it got cancelled...very late.  So Riley ended up at my parents' just down the street from my outreach.  I picked her up (but left the sleep kitties there).  I took her home and she went to mass while I took Rick to a friend's so he could have some drinks.  I went back home and picked up Riley to take her to her bff's for a sleepover then went back and picked up Rick.

In today's photos...the aforementioned sleepy kitties.  I was holding the little one and Riley stole her from me.

This is the sleepover crew.  There wasn't much sleeping happening.

Check out the giant blow up tv that they could watch while in the pool.  I believe they were watching Friends but they started with Stranger Things. Apparently it got kind of scary.

  

If you look closely, there is a giant face superimposed onto the wooded area.  They had taken down the screen before going in (for the morning).

My mom and dad were super awesome and went to get Riley from Notre Dame today.  

I think she was ready to come home but had a fabulous time.  

And now she wants to at least apply to go to school there.

This is a hard plastic bin that I was carrying to my car.  It was so hot outside that it steamed up!

We are under an emergency heat index in Indianapolis right now.  I texted Riley at 5PM.  It was 96.  It was 77 where she was but getting hotter.

I asked for a selfie because I miss her face.

She must have  been attending a candlelight ceremony.  The second picture of the candle is in front of the Golden Dome.

To be fair, I did do something "fun" today.  After work, I rolled on up to the NICU (I'm trying to make it sound more exciting than walking over to the elevator) for a lemonade and cookie party.  We staffed it with NICU grad moms.  We usually try to mix up the moms but we were all preemie mommas.  We had me with my 25 weeker, a 27 weeker, another 27 weeker and a 32 weeker.  The moms from the NICU were 23 weeks and 25 weeks.  We talked NICU a bit but then got off on a tangent (Tommie knows about those) and just enjoyed chatting.  Obvs I didn't take any pictures of that but Riley did send me a photo from Notre Dame of the Morreau Seminary.

Yesterday, Riley asked me if we could go to a different church (same priest) that has the middle time for mass.  Our mass just got moved to 7:30AM so it's a little early sometimes.  Alas, she got a text last night asking if she'd serve because we would have an Archbishop at mass.  Of course.  It's kind of fun because this archbishop is the Pope's ambassador to the Czech Republic but his sister lives in my hometown.  So he was visiting.  Riley looks REALLY short in this photo but she and the kiddo on the Archbishop's left are about the same height. 

She has decided that she wants to try out for the Clown Band.  So she was practicing.

She was getting ready to leave for Notre Dame.  My parents are driving her up a day early so they can check out the campus.

These two kitties are all that are left.  Black nose has been claimed by my brother.
