October 28, 2018

After church, we headed up to the North side for a trip to the pumpkin patch with Ball State Dance Marathon.  In this picture, Riley is with an old gymnastics friend.  When you pull the bar, it makes the entire ride spin.  They had a good time.  There was another ride that made you spin upside down.  They didn't like that one so much.

Pickle Rick

These little horses were so cute.

This one needed a moment to himself.

The goat was boy banding.

Adam Vinatieri taking the lead as the GOAT...highest scoring player of all time in the NFL.

There's a story behind this trophy that I'd be happy to share in person.  But it's the team trophy and Riley took it home for the night.

These two cars were in an accident in front of our house.  It was traumatic.

October 27, 2018

Gymnastics competitive season is upon us once again.  Riley's first meet of the season was today in Gas City.  Her first two events went pretty well...definitely will need some improvement but not anything to worry about.  In fact, she was in 2nd place by .05 going into the final two events.  Her bar routine was actually really pretty but she got a .5 deduction for not casting high enough and she fell off the balance beam.  She still got an 8.4 even with the fall (and the missing series which came with the fall) so when she gets that skill, her scores should be much better.  Painful to lose 1.5 points in those kind of deductions but that's what happens with the first meet.  She came in 2nd on vault and placed in everything else (top 4 placed).  She came in 3rd overall.

When you are your bestie get to stand next to each other on the podium.

October 26, 2018

I used the watermelon as a bribe for Riley.

This girl loves her kitty...at least one of them.

Today's drawing...

One of my co-workers and I hit up Der Pretzel Truck.  That's pastrami, coleslaw and a pretzel bun.

I had to run to Kroger during work to get food to feed the NICU families.  Look who I ran into...at Kroger...during work.

Rick brought me shrimp.  I love shrimp.

And cheesecake.  He also brought me cheesecake.

October 24, 2018 - Nap Time

It must be nap time.

Riley has a new "little" buddy for gymnastics.  So she made her a "prom-posal" type sign to ask her to be her buddy.

October 21, 2018 - Busier than busy

We had A LOT scheduled for the day.  We tried to adjust things but it's just how things worked out.

8AM - Mass
9:00 - 10:45AM - Sunday school
11:00 - 12:00 - Remember when I mentioned that I didn't go to the grocery?
12:45 - 1:45 - Meet IUDM at Riley for a hospital tour
2:00PM - Meet BUDM at the zoo for ZooBoo
6:00PM - Church Haunted Trail and BonFire
9:30PM - Home for the night

The day was PERFECT for a trip to the zoo.  All of the animals were out.  Well, except the papa lion since he is no longer with us due to getting choked out by his mate last week. 😱

The haunted trail went through some pretty thick woods and wasn't scary...but it was a little creepy.

October 20, 2018 - Saturdays...

Today was actually a relatively laid back day for us.  Riley and I were both schedule to work a wedding at church, plus she had to work at the gym.  On top of that, some IUDM folks were in town doing some canning so we went to see them.  We needed to go the grocery store but we elected instead to go home and straighten up a bit and catch up on some of our recordings.  When Rick got home, we warmed up some leftovers and pretty much all sat back down on the couch and had some much needed down time.  We are watching Scrubs episodes whenever we have a chance and I think we are pretty close to finishing off Season 2.

October 18, 2018

Riley's annual school physical/well kid check up was today.  Everything was fine.  She's 5'3" officially.  Literally 1/32" of an inch shorter and she'd still be 5'2".  But she was flat footed so she gets it.  :)  She also got a flu shot and a meningococcal shot.  Next year she'll get another that will prepare her for going to college...I'm sorry, what now?  In the picture, she's making that face because she would probably rather get ten shots than have her blood pressure taken.

Ya gotta love filters.

Riley got home from her saxophone lesson and we all jumped in the car (literally...I bounced) to head to Clown Band practice.  Riley was invited to sit in and I think she had a great time, even though they were sight reading new/old music.  Afterwards, pretty much the entire band walked to a Scottish restaurant downtown.  I loved my first ever taste of Scotch Egg.  The fish I had was good, I didn't like Riley's pasta and the french fries were alright.

October 17, 2018

Now that Riley is driving, my life is a lot more open to new and exciting opportunities.  Tonight, I went with Rick to the Pacers opening game where the band performed.  They even got time on the TV broadcast, which I saw while eating dinner at 21 Tap with some other band members.

These were our cheese curds.  They were amazing.

This was my chicken sandwich.  It was not good.

These were my french fries.  They were also amazing.
This was Rick's blue cheese burger.  Also amazing.

October 16, 2018

That's my yak.  His name is Miguel.

Riley coaching.

Rick's dinner at our favorite Mexican place.
Riley was spending the night with G and G so we went out.

October 15, 2018

I made Chicken Vesuvio for dinner tonight.  It calls for peas.  I hate peas.  I searched the store high and low for something that wasn't peas but also something that wasn't broccoli, or green beans.  I settled on pea pods.  I like those AND I got Rick the regular peas.  Riley ate the pods.

October 14, 2018 - DM conference

IUDM hosted a conference today for smaller dance marathons to help them plan their marathons better.  Riley and her friend C went down for the event and I tagged along as sponsor.
