I’ve spent the last 24 hours surrounded by friends and family but this is the only picture I took.

I took this less than an hour before she died because I wanted dad to let them know her eye was really red.

I have no words for the overwhelming sadness my family is feeling after my mama took her last breath on Wednesday evening.
As most of you know, she suffered (and we suffered with her) from debilitating vascular dementia that erased almost every inch of the mother, wife, grandma, sister and friend that people knew and loved. We were, however, left with a sweet, beautiful lady who still lit up with adoration at the sight of my dad and smiled her signature smile.
Although I have lost my mom multiple times over the past decade, the permanence of this loss is a tough one. Fly high mama and hug all those who went before you, especially John.
